Lemonade Stand

On one of the last days of school, Jordan and his class had a lemonade stand. All the families were invited. They made the menus, table cards and lots of other things. They all had to dress up prior to the big day and perform interviews to see what position/job they would be doing. Here is Jordan's resume. In the "qualities about yourself" section, he wrote that he's 1-smart, 2-handsome and 3-cool. How funny!

I can't even tell you how excited he was about this day. They made their own shirts and hats too. Jordan was a cook. They had waitresses that would come up and tell him the order and he had to get it and put it on a plate to serve. They had hotdogs, cookies, chips and lemonade. They even had a cashier. I didn't know we had to pay...thank goodness I had a few bucks with me. At the end of the day, they all got pay checks. This taught them a lot.

Jordan kept going back and saying....1 more hot dog, 2 more hot dogs. He was getting flustered and at one point said "man this is hard." Here he is serving the food to Kasey and I's waitress.

T-Ball

Once again, I have a lot of catching up to do on my blog. Jordan played T-ball for the first time this year. He wasn't too excited to have to wear a purple shirt, but I think he had fun anyway. They gave him a chance to play left field and first base. He says he likes first better because the out field is boring. He did very well for his first time. I think he's got a power swing coming later on down the road......so here are a few pics.

Catching!

Swinging....

and finding his way to home base! It was funny to see him out there because he's taller than most 6 yr olds and some of the 7yr. What he liked most was going to get a slurpee after the games.

Father's Day 2010

It seems as though I have always been destined to have many men in my life. I grew up the only girl with 4 brothers, my dad of course, and now I have a wonderful husband and two sons....no girls in sight!!! When I was young, I used to long for a sister. I can tell you that that's no longer the case. I love having 4 brothers and 2 sons! Scott says he gets embarrassed sometimes by all the nice things I say about him on my blog, so I will refrain from getting all sappy. Scott is not only a great husband, but a great father. I am always catching Jordan and Kasey copying him....and they are always saying that one day they want to grow up to be as strong as daddy. I am blessed to have a husband who works so hard at 2 jobs so we can never want for anything. I am also blessed to have my own father who also worked hard for us kids and whom I know would give/do anything for me, if he was able, if I just ask.

Here is a recap of the fun day we had. We had dinner at my house and then the kids had a blast playing.

The day started off with breakfast for daddy of strawberry, chocolate chip, whipped cream pancakes. The kids couldn't wait to make this for Scott. Doesn't it look yummy???

The "older" kids like 2 of my brothers, spent most of the time out on the 4-wheelers. Mark and my nephew Matthew on this one.

I can't believe I forgot to flip this one before uploading it....sorry! We then had fun on the slip and slide. Here is my niece Caroline. Here face is hilarious!

My niece Jaymie. Jaymie would walk most of the way and slide at the end. Too cute!

Water fights also took place....Julia and Jordan.

And the highlight of the day.....Big man on a little bike. Mark,,,you crack me up!

Happy Fathers' day to all the men in my life.

Slip n' Slide

I bought a slip and slide last week and the boys love it. Personally it would kill ME if I tried, but they don't seem to mind slamming on the ground in cooolllldddd water. They played on it for hours.

Little cutie.

I'm a little upset this is blurry but still think it's a funny shot.

Looks like it hurts doesn't it?? Summer is here!

Camping Extravaganza!

I'm finally getting to this post. We went camping for Memorial day weekend with Scott's sister Maline and her family. We went to a place in New York State on the border of Massachusetts in the Berkshire mountains. Absolutely beautiful!!! The important thing to note first was that both my boys learned to ride their bikes without training wheels. With Jordan seeing that his cousin Jack, who is younger then he is, was riding his bike solo (and maybe a little reminder of that from his mommy) I guess he got over his fear and gave it a try. It was definately past due. I went to the bathroom not knowing he was going to try and came back seeing him on his own with daddy running behind him. I know it's no big deal I guess...but it was to me! I felt so proud he got over his fear. This boy is growing up fast. I can no longer pick him up, he's losing all his baby teeth, and now he doesn't need his training wheels.

THEN I come back from the bathhouse again, a second time....to see Kasey riding without training wheels. Geesh...he's only 4. But he saw big brother and since he HAS to do everthing Jordan does...well....my baby is no longer a baby!!! Savanna, Jack, Jordan and Kasey rode around the campsite EVERY day practically ALL day (when they weren't looking for bugs and frogs).

Saturday while we were waiting for Maline and Alan to arrive, we took a trip to Stockbridge Massachusetts to see the Norman Rockwell museum. I have been wanting to come here for a long time. I LOVE it and highly recommend you visit. The grounds are so pretty and you can also see his studio there. I LOVE this picture. This shot was NOT staged, I promise. Jordan loves maps...and whatever Jordan does.....well,.. you know!

Should we go this way????

No, maybe it's this way. Luckily they're not directionless like their mother.

Scott and the boys on the grounds next to Norman Rockwells studio.

The Lewis family then arrived and the camping begun. Cooper was aching to ride Kasey's bike.

Campers....get your smore sticks ready...

Daddy and Jordan making smoke....

The next day, we went on a hike to Bash Bish falls. Rough hike for the little ones, but worth the scenery.

On the hiking trail, you actually cross the state line between Massachusetts and New York. One foot in one state, one foot in the other.

We brought Ponch from C.H.I.P.S along with us. Sorry Alan, had to do it. We gave this hiking pack to Alan for Cooper. It was quite the extra weight climbing up the trail.

Phlllittttt to you too. !!!

On the way down, all the kids stripped down to their skippies and played in the water. I seriously don't know how they played in there for so long..the water was FREEZING!

Kasey and his Dam.

Smores and pow wows at the fire.

Chief Kasey.

Maline left on Monday morning and so after we packed up camp we went to hike up to some glacier bolders. Here we are in this picture, but I must say it was kind of a dissapointment. Jordan was hoping to find some ice crystals, but there were none were to be found.

We then decided to hike up to a look-out tower at the top of the mountain. THIS was hard. I tell ya, I havn't climbed a mountain this steep since I climbed the "Y" back when I was 18yrs old. It was hot, it was painful on my back and knee and I had this one horsefly that followed me up and down buzzing around my head. UGH! AND Kasey cried almost all the way up and all the way down. Here we are at the top....we made it, but it took a lot out of this old momma!

It's always good to go exploring to a new place; however, and it's always good to be with family. We love seeing Maline and Alan and the kids. Camping and I however are starting to have a love/hate relationship. I think it's my age combined with all the bugs, lack of sleep and torture on my lower back. My kids love it though and they love seeing their cousins and listening to Uncle Alan's ghost stories at night. They beg him to do it and LOVE it. Jordan even came home saying he wanted to get his head shaved bald like Uncle Alan. Geeshhhhhh.

Until next time....

Here is a video of Jordan and Kasey riding without their training wheels:

Family Fun Day 2010

Each year that my kids have gone to the YMCA for preschool, they have had a family fun day. It's all free and they have games, spray park, balloons, ice cream, crafts and LOTS of amphibians and other animals. My kids LOVE it and I think it's great. Since Jordan was in Kindergarten this year, he couldn't go. So it was just Kasey and I. Here is Kasey in his balloon hat. You can tell he wasn't too thrilled for me to take his picture in it. As soon as we got there he got one and as soon as this picture was taken, he took it off and I had to hold it the whole time.

All the kids make their own shirt for the day. Since Kasey is a scrawny little peanut, you can tell the shirt was WAY big...but he loved the duck he painted on it, and he had a great time.

Every year they have LOTS of snakes.....yuk! Kasey of course had no fear and made his scaredy-cat mommy look like a wimpy little girl! He kept asking me to touch it...ummm no way! Actually I did touch it quickly and it made me a little freaky. I don't know what it is about snakes but I am SO scared of them. Ever had one of those dreams that keeps repeating itself over and over throughout your life? Mine is I find a snake in my sleeping bag, or pillowcase, or drawer etc...you get the picture.

Kasey is so careful with the animals and he likes to study them. He always has a serious look on his face as he's checking them out. I think it's cute. They had lizards.....

Alligators (I swear this thing was giving me the evil eye)......

Baby Turtles....chinchillas, a hedgehog, rabbits, a big tortoise, .........

and did I mention snakes???? Yeah,,,they had LOTS of snakes.

Kite Flying

I have quite a few posts to catch up on...I'll start with this one. We went flying kites last weekend at Brenton Park in Newport RI. It's kind of a common place where everyone flies their kites. It's right next to the ocean and the wind is awesome there. There was this one guy who had all three of these going at the same time. Cool.

Kasey just hanging around holding his kite.

Jordan holding his, hanging around. Tough job flying kites.....

The ocean is right across the street so we went there to find shells/rocks and just climb around. The kids had a great time.

The boys found this little cave and were in it for quite awhile. Here's Jordan's "come out of your cave like a bear" stance.

Kasey and I collecting snails and shells.... Good times!
